Parents Gain Hands-On Biogas Knowledge at AVTI Visitation Day

On 28th March, the Adilang Vocational Training Institute (AVTI) hosted its scheduled students’ visitation day, welcoming parents and guardians from across the community.  A total of 52 parents attended the visitation, creating an opportunity not only for interaction with their children but also for meaningful engagement with the institute’s programs.

As part of AVTI’s commitment to community empowerment, the day also featured a biogas training session, attended by 28 parents.

The training was facilitated by the Agriculture Department at AVTI, in collaboration with a visiting school principal, and focused on practical knowledge and applications of biogas technology. Participants were introduced to how biogas can be used as a sustainable energy solution for cooking and household use, while also promoting environmental conservation. The session was highly interactive and productive, with parents actively engaging, asking questions, and exploring how such solutions can be applied within their homes and communities. This initiative reflects AVTI’s broader approach to vocational training — one that goes beyond equipping students with skills, to also empowering families and communities.

“The same skills our students are learning inside the classroom are now going home with their parents. That is the kind of community impact AVTI was built for.”

By extending training opportunities to parents, AVTI ensures that knowledge is shared, adopted, and multiplied at the household level. This strengthens the link between the institute and the community it serves, while contributing to sustainable development practices.

As a Dongo Paco Foundation initiative, AVTI continues to uphold its belief that development starts at home — by building skills not only among students, but also within the wider community.
